Munchery Launches Ready-to-Cook Meals With Partner Chef Charles Phan and La Boulangerie

Introducing the First Meal Kit Delivery Available On-Demand and Without Subscription

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - Oct 27, 2015) - Munchery today announced the launch of Ready-to-Cook Meals, a first-of-its-kind cooking line that lets people create chef-inspired dinners without sacrificing quality or time. The new line expands on Munchery's core mission to make fresh, real food more widely accessible to everyone, everywhere by giving people yet another way to solve the problem of "what's for dinner?"

Munchery's Ready-To-Cook Meals, designed to serve two, are the first and only in the category to offer the freedom of flexible ordering with same-day delivery and no subscription required. People will be able to cook dinner under 15 minutes, with all of the tedious and time-consuming prep work taken care of, so they can focus on the fun part of cooking.

"With our new cooking line, we're bringing Munchery's high-quality, affordable, chef-inspired meals to people who are looking for a more hands-on time in the kitchen," said Tri Tran, CEO and co-founder. "The joy of sharing meals at home is in our company's DNA, so we're excited for how this new line expands the ways people can enjoy dinnertime -- they can cook, order ready meals or do a little bit of both."

The cooking line is the first Munchery offering spearheaded by Pascal Rigo, the company's newly announced Chief Customer Experience Officer and the CEO and founder of San Francisco's beloved La Boulangerie. The line will feature dishes from a variety of well-known chefs, as well as Munchery chefs' own take on simple home cooking. To start, five entrées and two desserts will be offered each week. First up are Chicken Skewers on Artichoke Salad, Salmon with Caramelized Lemon and Chicken Casablanca with Tomato Chickpeas. Shrimp Espagnole, Falafel Wrap and Chicken Skewers on Artichoke Salad will be available the following week.

Charles Phan, the chef-owner of The Slanted Door, known for its seasonal ingredients-driven menu and traditional Vietnamese cooking, is the first partner chef to team up with Rigo. As a busy working dad, Phan started putting together fully prepped, ready-to-cook meals for himself at the restaurant, so when he got home, he was able to get dinner together for his family as quickly as possible. He's excited to bring this concept, featuring some of The Slanted Door's most acclaimed dishes, such as Shaking Beef and Claypot Chicken, to people through Munchery and help get delicious dinners on tables everywhere.

"As a chef, I am constantly thinking of new and creative ways to bring my food to more people," Phan said. "Munchery gives me the chance to share the food I love with people all over the Bay Area, regardless of whether they're able to visit The Slanted Door, or any restaurant, on any given night."

Munchery will also be offering ready-to-cook desserts, all from La Boulangerie. Like the dinners, these desserts are prepped and done in a snap, providing stunning results from a quick turn in the kitchen. The first week will feature tender Blueberry Gateaux with Custard Cream and rich Chocolate Fondants with Strawberry Compote. Down the line, even La Boulangerie's famous cannelés will show up on the menu, complete with coconut caramel sauce and toasted almonds.

"Ready-To-Cook Meals is my first baby at Munchery and it is something that this company is uniquely positioned to deliver," Rigo said. "Eating is very personal. Our goal is to provide people with options for any night of the week, to make their dinners easier and most importantly, to encourage them to take a moment and connect over food. I believe we're doing something very, very special here."

Leveraging its unique, condensed supply chain, Munchery is singularly positioned to deliver a cooking line unlike anything before it, bringing flexible ordering and diverse dinner options to more people at affordable prices. People will be able to order ready-to-cook meals and desserts alongside Munchery's fully prepared dishes, including the entrées, kids' meals, sides, salads and desserts, as well as beverages. People can mix and match from all of these in the same order, and those orders can be placed for scheduled delivery up to ten days in advance, or for same-day delivery. Some areas even offer on-demand delivery, giving people the ultimate in flexibility when dinnertime rolls around.

Ready-to-cook meals are initially available daily in San Francisco, and will soon expand to Munchery's service areas in Los Angeles, New York City and Seattle. The cooking line will be produced in Munchery's existing kitchens and brought to people's doors by Munchery's friendly delivery employees.
