The A10 Thunder Application Delivery Controller (ADC) appliances with SSL Insight receive traffic inline from the Niagara External Bypass Switch and intercept and decrypt SSL traffic, sending the unencrypted traffic to third-party security devices such as firewalls, data loss prevention (DLP), network forensics and advanced threat protection (ATP) platforms for analysis and mitigation of attacks. Thunder ADC then encrypts the decrypted traffic and sends it through the Niagara External Bypass Switch to the intended destination. In the event of a software or a hardware failure, the Interface Masters Niagara External Bypass Switch routes network traffic around the Thunder ADC appliance, ensuring continuous application access.

The joint A10 Networks and Interface Masters' solution offers a cost-effective way to deliver a fail-open network configuration with one or more Thunder ADC appliances. Together, A10 Networks and Interface Masters provide visibility into attacks without network downtime.

The Niagara External Bypass Switch connects to the ingress and egress ports on the A10 Thunder ADC appliance. In the case of a maintenance window or downtime on the Thunder ADC appliance, the Niagara External Bypass Switch provides preemptive detection and fails-to-wire -- connecting the two sides of the network link together to ensure that traffic continues to flow when downtime occurs. The Active Bypass functionality protects network integrity in the case of a hardware failure, software crash or link loss. In the case of a power outage, the passive bypass functionality guarantees that the network continues to flow. The Niagara Bypass Switch enables plug-and-play connectivity and includes Interface Masters' auto heartbeat technology, which requires no additional drivers to be installed on the inline A10 Thunder ADC appliance.
