SmartMetric Brings Biometrics to the Credit and Debit Card to Protect the Card User and Financial Institution From Fraud

NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - November 04, 2015) - SmartMetric, Inc. (OTCQB: SMME) -- SmartMetric's leading edge technology of embedding inside a credit and debit card a fully functional fingerprint reader has brought the power of biometric security to the consumer credit and debit card.

We have spent over a decade in research and development in order to condense the size of a fingerprint scanner so that it would fit inside a credit and debit card. It has involved SmartMetric designing and manufacturing components to 1/4 the thickness of a credit card along with using one of the thinnest circuit boards imaginable. Inside our card is a powerful cortex processor, memory, power management system along with other sophisticated electronics giving our card the ability to scan and match a person's fingerprint in less than 0.25 seconds. As it stands today we are the world's first credit / debit card that has a functional fingerprint scanner inside a payments card that is thin enough to meet industry ISO standards for the credit card industry. This was important so that our card could be used by the public in existing credit card readers and ATMs said today SmartMetric's President & CEO, Chaya Hendrick.

What separates the SmartMetric card from other technologies is that it is the same thickness of existing credit cards, uses a SmartMetric designed and patent pending power recharging system along with the company's own super slim rechargeable battery. Thereby allowing the card to be used prior to it being inserted into an ATM or in-store card reader. The SmartMetric biometric card uses the person's own fingerprint to activate the card's chip found on the EMV chip cards making the card unable to work without at first having the fingerprint validation of the card user.

"We have layered biometrics security on top of the existing EMV chip card technology making our card fully adaptive to the existing payments card reader and transaction infrastructure," said Chaya Hendrick.

There are more than 3.4 billion EMV chip cards issued globally with an estimated additional 1 billion EMV cards added to this global figure from the United States adoption of the EMV chip card technology.
