W&H Systems Wins SDCE Green Supply Chain Award

Clients Meet Net-Zero Energy & Sustainability Goals

CARLSTADT, NJ--(Marketwired - Nov 9, 2015) -  W&H Systems, Inc., a full-service integrator of material handling systems, announces the company has won for the third consecutive year the Supply & Demand Chain Executive Green Supply Chain Award. The 2015 Green Supply Chain Awards recognize companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy and providers of supply chain solutions and services assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals. W&H Systems was chosen for implementing green technologies within several clients' distribution centers, helping them save significantly on energy, which leads to an increase in the bottom line.

"W&H Systems supports clients' sustainability goals to reduce energy usage and lower carbon emissions with energy-efficient equipment that utilizes high-efficiency motors; rooftop solar panels that can power the entire facility; energy-efficient lighting, heat and air; and more," said Chris Castaldi, Director of Business Development, W&H Systems. "We are honored to once again win this prestigious award for helping clients meet their green supply chain goals, driving value for the bottom line and positive impact on the environment."

Material handling equipment can be made more efficient with the use of high-efficiency motors with sleep logic that shuts parts of the system down automatically when not in use. If a conveyor is required, sensors detect incoming product and automatically start it up again. By ensuring that equipment is used only when needed, companies can see savings from:

  • Improved operating efficiencies
  • Less downtime due to undetected equipment problems
  • Extended equipment life cycle
  • Reduction of power draw (much of your bill is based on the highest peak in a month, even though it may last only a few minutes)
  • Lower costs of environmental compliance

The 2015 Green Supply Chain Awards honor companies taking green initiatives in the areas of Sourcing/Procurement, Fulfillment/Logistics, Operations, Product Lifecycle Management, and other areas of the supply chain. Hundreds of submissions were judged based on the clarity and content of the goals and strategy (30 percent), the extent of the steps being taken (30 percent), the impact of the results to date and projected results (30 percent), and the form and presentation of the information submitted (10 percent). Winners are listed in the December 2015 issue of Supply & Demand Chain Executive.
