Battelle Ready to Compete for Upcoming Contract for Non-Standard Commercial Vehicles (NSCVs)

U.S. Special Operations Command to Issue Requests for Proposals for Armored and Unarmored Vehicles in November

COLUMBUS, OH--(Marketwired - November 11, 2015) - Building on more than 11 years of experience in designing, building and delivering commercial-style armored vehicles, Battelle will once again aim to capture a contract to provide hundreds more to Special Operations Forces.

"We pay close attention to feedback from operators to support our vehicles in the field and to refine our designs," said Jim LaBine, program manager.

Battelle uses a systems engineering approach to produce well-integrated vehicles that have completed both formal durability testing and system level armor testing.

Under current contracts, Battelle has delivered nearly 300 commercial-styled armored vehicles.

Battelle's vehicles are designed with adaptability in mind in order to best help operators achieve mission success under rugged conditions. Battelle NSCVs, for example, may be ordered with a variety of options ranging from over-cab and rear-quarter gun mounts to left- or right-handed drive, gasoline or diesel engines and automatic or manual transmissions.

In May, Battelle unveiled the armored 79 Series Land Cruiser at the Special Operations Forces Industry Conference (SOFIC) in Tampa, Florida. Battelle, the world's leading independent R&D non-profit, developed the specifically-engineered, rugged commercial armored vehicle for military use in any terrain and in combat situations.

Battelle's armored vehicles are discreet because they retain the Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) appearance, whether Hilux, Land Cruiser and Ford platforms. The vehicles are re-engineered with 360-degree crew protection, enhanced suspension for improved off-road mobility, and a reinforced chassis for durability.
