MEDIA ALERT: Expert Panel to Discuss Expanding Bay State Startups Internationally

MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge Session Will Share Knowledge, Experience and Insights About Going -- and Growing -- Globally

CAMBRIDGE, MA--(Marketwired - Nov 12, 2015) - Whether it's finding the best talent, a favorable market climate or identifying key partners, sometimes creating the best version of your startup means crossing the border. In its next Innovation Series event, the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge (MITEF) will explore the world of international startup expansion on Tuesday, December 8 at the MIT Stata Center.

"Boston is a hot-bed for innovation, but there are often strategic reasons for local entrepreneurs to consider expanding outside of the U.S.," said Katja Wald, Executive Director of MITEF Cambridge. "In certain cases, it may even make sense for them to target some of those countries as their first go-to-market geographies. This event will provide invaluable insight from local agencies, foreign governments and entrepreneurs who have successfully taken advantage of global opportunities. They'll discuss how to grow internationally, explore overseas for the brightest minds and best business partners, and evaluate the most compelling technologies and products to build stronger, faster-growing businesses."

A world class panel moderated by Richard Kivel, Chief Operating Officer at IXCEL, will highlight the evening. Featured speakers will include:

  • Brittany McDonough, Manager of Business Development, Massachusetts Office of International Trade and Investment (MOTI)
  • Dr. Felix Moesner, Swiss Consul & CEO, Consulate of Switzerland
  • Ralph Verrilli, Managing Director with Madison Park Group and Former Co-founder, Chief Operating Officer and VP of Operations at VISTAGY Inc. (acquired by Seimens)
  • Thierry Weissenburger, Consul and Senior Trade Commissioner, Consulate General of Canada

Event Schedule:

5:30 - 6:00 Registration, and refreshments
6:00 - 8:00 Program
8:00 - 9:00 Networking
