African Travel, Inc. Invites Travelers to Give Back to Africa

DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Nov. 13, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- This Thanksgiving season, African Travel, Inc. invites travelers to give back to the African communities they visit. The safari outfitter, which was recently ranked one of Travel + Leisure's "World's Best," provides numerous opportunities for guests to invest in Africa's future by donating their time, expertise, and physical labor to a variety of projects. In addition to existing projects in Cape Town and Livingstone, African Travel's newest voluntourism opportunity is dedicated to building much-needed desks for schoolchildren in Tanzania.

In many classrooms, as many as three or four children are forced to share a desk designed for one. African Travel guests interested in volunteering can choose to spend an additional night at Gibbs Farm on the deluxe nine-day "Tantalizing Tanzania" itinerary and devote a morning to sawing, hammering and sanding desks. Once the construction is complete, volunteers deliver them to a local school and get to know the schoolchildren by playing soccer, Frisbee, or coloring with them. Schools are also in dire need of general supplies such as chalk, colored pencils, crayons, flash cards, and sports and outdoor equipment like jump ropes and balls. Donation of these items is greatly appreciated.

The remainder of the itinerary is an intimate exploration of East Africa. Guests enjoy twice-daily game drives in Tarangire National Park, where the grassy acacia woodlands and gigantic baobabs silhouetted against the sky make for spectacular vistas. The Ngorongoro Crater is also on the agenda, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and home to one of the densest concentrations of game in Africa. African Travel guests also explore the endless Serengeti plains, searching for the huge herds of migrating wildebeest and zebra (and the predators that stalk them).

"Tantalizing Tanzania" is a nine-day deluxe safari exploring Arusha, Tarangire National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Serengeti National Park. Prices start from $8,085 per person, based on double occupancy.
