Quartz Project to Showcase Common Product Database at Greenbuild International Conference and Expo

Open Data Initiative Invites Attendees to Explore Use Cases at Flux Collaboration Wall

WASHINGTON, DC--(Marketwired - Nov 16, 2015) - Quartz, a collaborative between GoogleHealthy Building Network (HBN), thinkstep, and Flux, today announced they will present live demos of their common building products database at the Greenbuild International Conference and Expo, November 18-20. The Quartz Project will be located in the Flux Exhibition, booth number 3712. The Quartz Project, an open database of 100 of the most commonly used building materials, was unveiled last month and is free and open to the public. At Greenbuild, Quartz Project collaborative members will be available to showcase the data and explore use cases with attendees.

Three public demonstrations of the database are planned for the show on Thursday, November 19. The first is at the Flux booth on Wednesday, November 18, at 1:00 p.m. EST. The collaborative will also conduct two live demos in thinkstep's booth #1000 on Wednesday, November 18, from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. EST, and on Thursday, November 19, from 10:30 to 11 a.m. EST. Attendees are also encouraged to share their ideas for how building design teams might use the data to improve sustainability worldwide on the Flux Collaboration Wall. The public is invited to browse the database at any time at www.quartzproject.org.

The Quartz Project database is the industry's first open data initiative to combine health and environmental impact data of building materials in an open environment. The database aggregates and standardizes the industry's current supply of isolated, disjointed and difficult-to-interpret data into easy-to-understand and actionable data across building teams.

"We hope that by providing our data in an open, easy-to-interpret format, project teams will be able to take and use the data and build on it to address health and environmental sustainability in their buildings," said Vivian Dien, Product Manager, QUARTZ Project. "Our ultimate goal is to enable building teams to incorporate this data into the design process from its earliest stages so that sustainability decisions are on par with design and cost decisions."

About the Quartz Project
