Inspire Launches Redesigned Online Health Community to Improve Patient and Caregiver Experience

Community Insights Demonstrate Inspire Members Use 24/7 Access to Online Communities to Remain Engaged With Care

PRINCETON, NJ--(Marketwired - December 07, 2015) - Inspire, the largest social network for patients and caregivers, has released an upgraded design that enables patients to better engage with and navigate the site, and meets the needs of the growing group of mobile healthcare consumers.

Patients and caregivers engage in over 200 disease-specific areas in Inspire to find support and practical information from others in similar situations.

More than 100 national patient advocacy organizations have partnered with Inspire to provide highly engaged, authentic online member-to-member support. To improve the experience for Inspire's partners such as the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance, Inspire has made it easier for partners to offer resources and information and for members to support those nonprofit organizations that have benefitted them.

"Inspire provides a safe environment for our survivors to give and get the support that only other survivors and caregivers can provide. It truly is a great resource," said Calaneet Balas, CEO of the Ovarian Cancer National Alliance. "When women are making important decisions or looking for information about their health, being able to quickly access insights from other survivors is crucial. At Inspire, they truly care for our community as if the members were their own mothers, sisters or daughters."

Rebecca Flick, vice president of communications and programs at RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association, a longtime Inspire partner, said that the Inspire community is strong because the company's employees "truly understand that people with chronic illnesses need" to connect with others. "We love working with Inspire's team," Flick said, "and have a created a great partnership over the years."

According to the Inspire Annual Report, which surveyed more than 13,500 members, over 75 percent of patients look to the Internet for information about their health. Inspire CEO Brian Loew said the redesign focused on "what we know our members care about the most when they interact with others in the support community."

"Inspire is committed to meeting the needs of our 700,000 members, with design improvements based on significant member feedback," Loew said. "In improving our mobile experience, we are also continuing to steer our members to our patient advocacy organization partners that offer crucial support and information."
