Cucamonga Valley Water District Director Elected to Lead Statewide Water Group

Yuba County Water Agency Director Chosen as Vice President


SACRAMENTO, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 8, 2015) - Members of the Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) have elected Kathleen J. Tiegs, a member of the Cucamonga Valley Water District Board of Directors, to a two-year term as president of the statewide association. Brent Hastey, a member of the Yuba County Water Agency Board of Directors, was elected vice president.

The election took place Dec. 2 at ACWA's 2015 Fall Conference & Exhibition in Indian Wells. Tiegs and Hastey will take office in January.

"This is a critical time for California water policy. The challenges facing us are great, and the opportunities to advance solutions are equally great," Tiegs said. "I look forward to working with ACWA's public water agency members from throughout the state to learn about their issues and move forward with the comprehensive solutions we need for California's water future."

Tiegs has served as vice president of the association since January 2014. She has been a member of the Cucamonga Valley Water District Board of Directors since 2005. She also currently serves on the California Special Districts Association Board of Directors and the ACWA / Joint Powers Insurance Authority Board of Directors. Prior to joining the Cucamonga Valley Water District board, she enjoyed a career in water resource management for a local wholesale water agency for over 30 years.

Hastey has served on the ACWA Region 2 Board since February 2015. He is a member of the Yuba County Water Agency Board of Directors and a former member of the Yuba County Board of Supervisors, Yuba County LAFCO, Regional Council of Rural Counties, Board of Reclamation District 784 and the Sacramento Area Council of Governments.
