Marlborough Mall and Calgary Police Service Team Up for 10th Annual CopShop Event

Calgary youth and CPS officers embark on holiday shopping trip

CALGARY, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - Dec. 8, 2015) - The Calgary Police Service (CPS) and Marlborough Mall are teaming up to bring holiday cheer to well-deserving youth. The tenth annual CopShop event will pair CPS officers with local children for a holiday shopping spree. The partnership, which builds positive relationships between the police and youth, will kick-off at Marlborough Mall tomorrow, December 9, at 10 a.m.

Participating children will each receive a $200 gift card donated by Marlborough Mall to spend on holiday gifts for themselves, family members and friends. Participants were selected based on need, academic performance, sports achievement or volunteering efforts that are making a positive impact in their community.

"Marlborough Mall is honoured to partner with Calgary Police Services for CopShop's tenth annual year," said Kim Wiltse, Marketing & Specialty Leasing Director, Marlborough Mall. "We look forward to this initiative every year, as it's a wonderful way to spread holiday cheer and give back to deserving youth."

The event will officially commence at the Marlborough Mall food court and will take place between 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Inspector Leah Barber will be on hand to welcome participants and highlight the value and importance of fostering strong connections between the police and Calgary's youth.

Launched in 2005, at a Halifax Shopping Centre, CopShop events have been adopted by 20 VIC Management centres across the country including locations in Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario and Nova Scotia.
