NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwired - Dec 10, 2015) - Great Eastern Energy, an alternative energy supplier of natural gas, electricity, and renewable energy solutions, announced today the beginning of its partnership with Girls Inc. of New York City, a not-for-profit organization that delivers life-changing programs designed to inspire girls to be strong, smart and bold. The company will inaugurate its partnership with a $10,000 holiday donation to support the expansion of the Operation SMART® program in Brooklyn, NY.

Operation SMART® encourages young girls to develop skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The community-based program uses hands-on interactive projects to help girls learn the process of inquiry and hypothesizing in an enthusiastic and fun environment.

"We are delighted to build a long-term partnership with Girls Inc. of New York City and support this critical work happening right in our back yard," said Allan Brenner, Managing Member and CFO for Great Eastern Energy. "It is vitally important that we help encourage young women to study STEM subjects, and we are thrilled to be working with Girls Inc. of New York City."

Brenner also noted that Great Eastern Energy, also based in Brooklyn, plans to expand its relationship with Girls Inc. of New York City in 2016 by partnering with the organization to fund STEM events and programming locally.

"Girls Inc. of New York City is proud to partner with Great Eastern Energy on the Operation SMART® program," said Pam Maraldo, CEO, Girls Inc. of New York City. "Their company truly demonstrates how women can have flourishing careers in STEM disciplines, and we're thankful they have chosen to help more young women succeed."
