CUPE 50 ratifies first collective agreement with City of Langford


LANGFORD, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - Dec. 15, 2015) - CUPE Local 50, representing 18 RCMP support workers, ratified a collective agreement with the City of Langford on Monday, December 14.

"This first collective agreement sets rights for our members in place," said CUPE 50 president John Burrows. "We see this as the foundation to build on over the coming years."

The two-year contract goes into effect on January 1, 2016 and continues until December 31, 2017. It includes wage increases of 1.5 per cent in the first year and 2 per cent in the second. Bargaining was completed over a two-month period.

"On behalf of CUPE members at the City of Langford, I'd like to thank the bargaining committee for their dedication and commitment in reaching this first collective agreement," said Burrows.

The City of Langford has also ratified the agreement.

CUPE 50 represents workers who provide support services to the RCMP in the City of Langford, as well as workers at the City of Victoria (inside and outside), Victoria Police Board, BCSPCA Victoria Branch, Gorge Vale Golf Club, Royal Oak Burial Park and the United Way of Greater Victoria.
