Vicor's Picor(R) Cool-Power(R) ZVS Point-of-Load Buck Regulators Named One of the 2015 Hot 100 Products by EDN

Cool-Power PI354x ZVS Buck Regulators Enable 48 V Direct to PoL Step-Down Regulation With Over 96% Efficiency

ANDOVER, MA--(Marketwired - Dec 15, 2015) - Vicor Corporation (NASDAQ: VICR) today announced that EDN has named the company's Picor® Cool-Power® PI354x ZVS buck regulators as one of the "Hot 100 Products of 2015." The EDN Hot 100 highlights the electronic industry's most significant products of the year based on innovation, utility and popularity.

Cool-Power PI354x ZVS buck regulators utilize a high performance Zero-Voltage Switching topology that enables 48 V direct to PoL regulation with efficiency over 96%. With step-down regulation from a higher voltage source, engineers can deploy more efficient power distribution architectures, reduce I2R losses, and eliminate costly and inefficient intermediate conversion stages.

Cool-Power PI354x ZVS buck regulators integrate control circuitry, power semiconductors and support components in a high density 10 x 10 x 2.5 mm LGA System in Package (SiP) module, and are ideally suited for a wide range of applications leveraging higher voltage distribution, including telecom, network infrastructure, datacenters, industrial, battery, lighting applications and more. When used in conjunction with Vicor's upstream AC-DC or DC-DC converter modules, the PI354x series can enable a complete power chain from AC or HVDC (200 V+) source to the PoL.

"Of the many thousands of products announced during the past year, the EDN Hot 100 are the products that especially caught the attention of our editors and readers. We are pleased to share this annual tradition of showcasing these standout technologies as we celebrate another stellar year of electronics innovation," said Suzanne Deffree, Executive Editor, EDN.

The complete index of EDN's Hot 100 products can be found online at EDN's website.
