Top HR Exec Tells 'Firing Line with Bill Kutik' Quarterly Software Updates Are Key Benefit of Cloud HCM Systems

Releases Create 'Innovation Cycle Every Quarter' With No Employee Complaints

WESTPORT, CT--(Marketwired - Dec 15, 2015) - Rob Arbogast, head of global HR systems at manufacturer, The Timken Company, tells "Firing Line with Bill Kutik®" that the key benefit of cloud human capital management (HCM) systems is the potential every quarter for innovation and improving business outcomes.

Arbogast's comments are part of his interview in the 11th edition of the broadcast-quality video series beginning on YouTube today.

"Tesseract, PeopleSoft, all those guys, [they] come out with an update every two or three years. As a matter of fact, we all kind of just have IT take care of that. It happens and it's done and you're moving along," Arbogast says.

"With the new packages, we have an innovation cycle every quarter. That means our software has opportunity for us every quarter. So what we've done is we try to take advantage of that because that's the value."

"That's why you buy these SaaS packages. Every quarter, we have the opportunity to help the business grow, to help the business change," Arbogast continues.

Arbogast also noted that at first, three years ago, the regular updates were a challenge. But now Timken employees have had no complaints about them, readily adapting to the changes. "It's like everything else in the world," he says.

Commenting on his interview with Arbogast, Bill Kutik, host and managing editor of "Firing Line with Bill Kutik®," said: "The Timken experience is an important case study of a major multi-national manufacturer in what some people think of as the U.S. Rust Belt, going from one of the oldest HR systems still in use, on a mainframe, to one of the newest, delivered in the cloud."

The monthly "Firing Line" series has received more than 29,000 views on YouTube since its debut in February. Watch the new episode at http://bit.ly/KutikFiringLine.
