Instacart and Pantry Partner to Deliver Recipe Kits On-Demand

Pantry Integrates Instacart Grocery Delivery, Preparing Pre-Portioned Recipe Kits That Can Be Made With Basic Kitchen Tools in 20-45 Minutes

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwired - December 15, 2015) - Making a home-cooked meal has never been easier. Instacart (www.Instacart.com), the fast-growing retail delivery service whose personal shoppers hand pick and deliver items from trusted local stores, today announced a partnership with Pantry, the recipe and ingredient kit service in Boston. In just a few clicks, items from any Pantry recipe can be brought to a customer's doorstep in as little as one hour by an Instacart Shopper.

Each Pantry recipe kit is pre-portioned and designed for both novice and advanced chefs, including recipe cards (with full color photographs), videos, kitchen essentials, pre-packaged spices, and farm fresh produce. All recipes can be prepared with basic kitchen tools in 20-45 minutes. Recipes can be purchased for 2, 4 or more diners.

"We're thrilled to partner with Instacart so we can integrate recipe inspiration to delivery," said Dennis Lasko, Co-Founder at Pantry. "A natural extension of our business is to make meal kits deliverable, so our customers can enjoy them wherever, and whenever they'd like. We're excited about the future of this partnership."

People ordering from Pantry between December 14-21st will be automatically entered to win a Pantry dinner for 6. In addition, the first 10 customers to order Pantry will receive a free Pantry apron.

"We're dedicated to saving our customers' time," said Vishwa Chandra, VP of Retail Accounts at Instacart. "A partnership with Pantry provides our customers with the duel convenience of both meal planning and home delivery while providing flexibility that we know customers demand."

Initial delivery includes zip codes throughout Brookline, Back Bay, South End, and Fenway: 02115, 02116, 02118, 02120, 02199, 02215, 02445, 02446.

Originally launched in San Francisco, and since expanded into many other cities, Instacart has fundamentally changed the traditional grocery delivery space by connecting customers with personal shoppers who shop for and deliver grocery orders in as little as one hour. This eliminates the need for costly infrastructure such as inventory, warehouses and trucks. In January 2015, Forbes named Instacart "America's Most Promising Company."

How Instacart works: Customers go online to www.Instacart.com or open the Instacart mobile app on their iPhone or Android device, select their city/store, add items to a virtual cart, and then choose a delivery window (within one hour, within two hours, or some scheduled time in the future) and check out. An Instacart Personal Shopper accepts the order on his/her smartphone, uses the Instacart Shopper app to guide them through shopping, and then delivers the order to the customer in the designated delivery timeframe.
