Senator Dianne Feinstein Receives "The Mike & Betty Weinstock Helping Hands Award" From the Nancy Painter Home for Mothers With Children

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - Dec 22, 2015) - Senator Dianne Feinstein was recently honored with the 2015 "Mike & Betty Weinstock Helping Hands Award" on behalf of The Nancy Painter Home for Mothers with Children, a Los Angeles-based transitional housing program devoted to serving the needs of homeless single mothers and their kids.

"More children are homeless in this country than ever before, and the problem is particularly acute in California. Families are living in motels or doubling up with acquaintances because they have nowhere else to go," said Senator Feinstein. "Organizations like the Nancy Painter Home are essential to helping mothers and their children get housed and build a better future. I'm honored to receive the Helping Hands Award and look forward to working with the Nancy Painter Home and other community groups to end family homelessness."

In partnership with the Salvation Army, The Nancy Painter Home was founded by three-time Emmy-winning choreographer Walter Painter, who created the organization as a safe haven in honor of his late mother. The sole purpose of the non-profit is to provide a stable and loving environment for single moms who are raising their children sans a proper place to call home. Those fortunate to live under the care of the program are provided with time, support and resources necessary to obtain vocational training, employment, and permanent housing. The Nancy Painter Home is completely volunteer driven, with all proceeds serving their annual operations.

"We were 100% confident in our decision to select Senator Feinstein as this year's recipient of the 'Helping Hands Award'," said Walter Painter. "She has demonstrated great capability in confronting the issues our organization cares deeply about and there was just no other choice as perfect as her!"
