Boston's LearnLaunch Accelerator Showcases Seven Transformative Edtech Companies to Financial and Strategic Investors at 4th Annual Demo Day

Technologies to Improve Student Learning in K-12 and Higher Education


BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Jan 20, 2016) - Today LearnLaunch Accelerator, one of the world's leading education technology startup programs, hosted its fourth Demo Day in South Boston, Mass. Where entrepreneurs from seven education technology startups pitched their innovative technology products and business plans developed during LearnLaunch Accelerator's immersive, four-month program to a packed room of more than 200 angel investors, venture capitalists and education leaders.

Now in its third year, LearnLaunch Accelerator attracts edtech startups from around the world. Tackling some of education's toughest problems, each of the startups received seed funding, participated in LearnLaunch Accelerator's intensive four-month mentoring and business development program, and received access to services and office space at LearnLaunch Campus. Mentors included successful technology and education entrepreneurs, investors and educators.

The companies graduating from the LearnLaunch Accelerator's Fall 2015 Program are as follows:

  • Affordable College: (Atlanta, GA) Affordable College provides community college students a clear path to an affordable bachelor's degree by bringing together community colleges and universities in a Transfer Student Marketplace.
  • Bab'l Books: (Boston, MA) Bab'l Books uses the power of crowdsourced translations and print-on-demand to make bilingual children's books accessible to anyone, anywhere, in any language.
  • Cashtivity: (Melbourne, Australia) Cashtivity is a peer-to-peer platform for teaching & learning real world math, through entrepreneurial & business challenges.
  • Learning Games Studios: (Alexandria, VA) Coming out of a research network led by the MIT Education Arcade, Learning Games Studios offers evidence-based educational games for adult education to help underserved learners unlock skills and level up. 
  • Menlo Learn: (New York, NY) Menlo Learn is an online learning platform for Undergraduate and MBA admissions. Menlo's short, automated courses teach applicants how to craft strong personal statements and position themselves in their applications.
  • Skookii: (Tempe, AZ) Skookii is the simplest way to pay for all school fees.
  • TeachersConnect: (Boston, MA) In partnership with teacher prep programs across the country, TeachersConnect is laying the groundwork to ensure a world in which teaching is never a solo activity and "teacher prep" stays with teachers for their entire careers.
