SEATTLE, WA--(Marketwired - Jan 26, 2016) - Astavita, Inc., a Seattle-based provider of high quality dietary supplements containing natural astaxanthin, today announced that Dr. Monica Marcu has joined the company as Director of Medical Affairs. Marcu will work closely with Dan Henry, General Manager, to expand the footprint of the U.S. personal lifestyle and healthcare market related to natural astaxanthin. The hiring comes on the heels of a successful 2015 for Astavita highlighted by the launch of their new ecommerce site in October. For the first time, consumers are now able to purchase two of the company's most popular branded products, Astavita Sports Endurance & Recovery and Astavita Healthy Living Antioxidants. In 2016, Astavita is focusing on providing superior quality natural astaxanthin products for consumers, thus expanding the market and also developing a new frontier of healthcare products.

Marcu brings a wealth of industry and clinical experience including various roles with Sanofi, Roche, Johnson and Johnson, and Novartis. She is a both a pharmacologist (Ph.D.) and a pharmacist (Pharm. D). Marcu has conducted basic and clinical research in drug discovery in academia as well as at the National Institutes of Health, and has won numerous awards and distinctions for her work. She is also internationally known for her work in nutrition and natural compounds.
