Android Pay and Samsung Pay Now Available for Mountain America Credit Union Members

WEST JORDAN, UT--(Marketwired - January 28, 2016) - With Mountain America Credit Union's Mobile Banking app, members can transfer funds, locate nearby branches, make mobile deposits and pay loans anytime, using a smartphone or tablet. Now Mountain America has made mobile banking even more convenient with simple and secure Android Pay and Samsung Pay, allowing members to pay for purchases with their phone instead of reaching for their wallet.

"At Mountain America, we want mobile banking to be simple to use while remaining secure. These apps make using your Mountain America Visa® Card as easy as pulling out your smart phone," says Tony Rasmussen, SVP payment/business services. "The apps also protect your card information with multiple layers of security, without taking extra steps in the checkout lane."

Android Pay works with Android phones running KitKat 4.4+, and are NFC- and HCE-enabled. Paying in stores is as simple as holding a mobile device to a contactless reader. The actual card number is never shared with stores. Every card used with Android Pay is assigned a virtual card number, which is then used to process the payment. To get started, users download the Android Pay app and add their card numbers. Upon completion, users can pay confidently at over a million locations in the U.S. as well as within apps where Android Pay is presented as a payment option.

Samsung Pay can be used on the Samsung Galaxy S6, S6 Edge or Galaxy Note 5. Samsung Pay is available virtually anywhere cards are swiped. For most Samsung Galaxy S6 or S6 Edge users, Samsung Pay will be either installed during a system update or preinstalled on the device. Once card numbers are entered, accounts are secured with fingerprints and backup PINs. Thereafter, a user can simply swipe up to launch the app, secure the transaction with a fingerprint and hover the device over the card reader to complete the payment.

In addition to being easy to use, Samsung Pay is highly secure. Transactions are authorized by fingerprint, putting the user in control of when each payment is made. Each transaction uses a random token instead of an actual card number, which means card information isn't shared while shopping and details remain safe. Purchase information stays private; Samsung Pay doesn't store or share payment information.
