Q-Centrix Upgrades Q-Apps Platform to Incorporate National Healthcare Safety Network 2016 Updates

Q-Centrix Furthers Its Technology Commitment to Improve Patient Outcomes and Healthcare Quality and Safety

CHICAGO, IL--(Marketwired - January 28, 2016) -  Q-Centrix, a leading quality data solutions provider in healthcare, today announced that it has implemented the new 2016 National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) updates into its fully-integrated healthcare quality information system. Q-Apps is delivered through Q-Centrix's offerings and provides member hospitals an information system that improves the overall performance of quality efforts within their facilities.

"Our platform was built to help hospitals across the country maximize the performance of their healthcare quality efforts to both improve patient outcomes, avoid penalties and cut costs, and capture more quality-linked reimbursement dollars," noted Brian Foy, Vice President, Product Development at Q-Centrix. "It also effectively prepares quality and safety professionals, physicians and administrators to meet and exceed current quality requirements while positioning them to be prepared to meet new requirements as they are presented."

The new software updates became effective at the first of the year, in advance of NHSN's projected implementation date later in January. The updates include changes in event reporting in a variety of areas including multidrug-resistant organisms (MDRO), laboratory-identified infections (LabID), central line insertion practices (CLIP), and dialysis.

"Our platform was designed to be flexible so that changes and additions can be readily made to expand on what is being monitored and reviewed with little impact to the system and our hospital partners," explained Russell Reas, Vice President, Technology at Q-Centrix. "While vitally important to hospitals and their staff, updating our system to adhere to the new NHSN updates is relatively simple to make due to the flexible design of the platform, and seamless to the end user."

"The NHSN update is part of a larger technology investment we have been making and continue to make to have an industry leading platform," added Foy. "We also plan to new innovative features related to reporting and transmitting data directly to NHSN. Our system is easily updated and delivers quality care in a consistent, reliable, transparent and cost-effective manner."

Q-Apps was developed to meet the most stringent demands of a quality department and is validated through daily use by the Q-Centrix workforce, over 600 quality information specialists. The firm also engaged quality leaders, data abstractors and computer scientists to perfect the product to ensure that it will best optimize, track, measure, report and assist care providers in their quality initiatives.
