ATLANTA, GA--(Marketwired - February 25, 2016) - Things are looking good for hotel franchises as more and more people check back in. Five hotel franchises made the 100 Top Global Franchises by Franchise Direct, and four of them made the Top 10.

The recession 7-8 years ago slowed hotel construction, but now people are traveling again and hotel construction is on the rise. Growth has been great for mid-level brands that offer guests comfort and just the right amount of amenities.

Marriott International (#10) is seeing plenty of growth and new unit openings. One quarter of all current U.S. construction is represented by Marriott properties alone, according to hotel executives. Marriott is also expanding by buying hotel chain Starwood. Hilton Worldwide (#9) is expanding as well by introducing a new brand, Tru by Hilton. The brand will focus initially in the U.S. and Canada and will appeal to travelers with its youthful outlook.

The top ten includes also includes Wyndham Hotel Group (#7) and InterContinental Hotels Group (#8). Choice Hotels (#30) also posted significant gains in 2015.
