Tractor Supply Company, DOG for DOG Partnership Provides 43,600 Meals to Dog Shelters

BRENTWOOD, TN--(Marketwired - February 25, 2016) -  Customers of Tractor Supply Company, the nation's largest rural lifestyle retailer, have provided 43,600 meals to dog shelters through a partnership with DOG for DOG dog food.

DOG for DOG, a mission-based company with a focus on saving the lives of pets, makes all-natural dog food and treats. For every DOG for DOG product purchase, the company guarantees a donation of an equal amount of dog food to a rescue or shelter.

Tractor Supply Co. began carrying select DOG for DOG products, including treats and "Dogsbutter" peanut butter, in stores nationwide and on TractorSupply.com in 2015.

DOG for DOG coordinates food donations on behalf of its retail partners every three months. This month marks the first dog food donation from Tractor Supply customers through the partnership -- a staggering 43,600 meals.

Irene Grace, director of the Christian County Animal Shelter in Hopkinsville, Ky. which received part of the donation, says food is one of the largest expenses for most shelter and rescue organizations.

"Having a steady supply of healthy food keeps our dogs feeling great and allows us to focus on their well-being and facility improvements, which helps us adopt more dogs," said Grace. "We only succeed in finding homes for the dogs in our care because of the support of our community and generous partners like DOG for DOG and Tractor Supply Company."

Customers have embraced DOG for DOG's mission to end pet homelessness, according to Seth Estep, vice president, divisional merchandise manager at Tractor Supply Company.

"From our team members to our customers, the Tractor Supply family is passionate about caring for animals-big and small," Estep said. "This alignment of values is why our partnership with DOG for DOG works so well, and our team is excited to see dog food donations to our pet partners get started."

Rocky Kanaka, founder of DOG for DOG, says Tractor Supply's presence in rural markets is key to raising awareness about pet adoptions.

"It's incredible for DOG for DOG to have a national retail partner like Tractor Supply that serves families and shelters in rural areas across the country and believes in our mission," Kanaka said. "Tractor Supply is a pillar of rural communities and their support is a key reason many families have heard about DOG for DOG's efforts to save the lives of more pets."

DOG for DOG products are available for purchase at Tractor Supply stores and on TractorSupply.com.
