Escape From Archambault Institution-Medium Security Unit

On March 1st, 2016 during the 12 p.m. (noon) count in the medium security unit at Archambault Institution, in Sainte-Anne-des-Plaines, staff members discovered that Sylvain Lauzon was not accounted for.

The Correctional Service of Canada (CSC) immediately contacted the Sûreté du Québec and a warrant for his arrest has been issued.

Sylvain Lauzon is 43 years old, measures 175 cm (5'9") in height and weighs 65 kg (144 lbs). He has a fair complexion, blue eyes and auburn hair. He has a tattoo on the right upper arm representing 2 dragons in a heart shape, other tattoos on the torso, left calf and right shoulder and a scar on the left ankle. He is currently serving a sentence of 4 years and 10 months for robberies, disguise, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and operation of a motor vehicle for getaway.

Anyone who has information on the whereabouts of Sylvain Lauzon is asked to contact police.

CSC will investigate the circumstances of this incident and is working with the police to locate the offender as quickly as possible.

CSC has given the police all of the information available to help arrest the inmate.
