ZURICH, SWITZERLAND--(Marketwired - Mar 1, 2016) - The partners of The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) have elected Zurich-based senior partner Pia Tischhauser as a member of the firm's global Executive Committee. She joined the firm in 1998 and was elected partner in 2006. Last year she was appointed leader of BCG's global Insurance practice.

At BCG, Tischhauser has worked on four continents for almost two decades, including in the firm's Chicago, London, and Zurich offices. She has played a key role in expanding BCG's footprint in insurance in mature and emerging markets, and she has worked intensely with international insurers in Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, applying BCG's expertise in industry transformation, strategy, digital, and operational effectiveness and simplification.

"I am honored and excited to be a part of BCG Executive Committee," says Tischhauser. "As a true client person I will do my best to build upon one of our main strengths: customer centricity. I worked on the ground with clients through turnaround situations and helped our clients to cope with the impact of the digital transformation, which changes business models, processes and the recruiting of new talents." She has experienced this fundamental change in the insurance industry, where traditional insurance models are being replaced by an agile and digital way of doing business. One of the main things she has learned through the years is that a strategy is always only as good as its execution.

Looking ahead to her role on the Executive Committee, Tischhauser prioritizes BCG's entrepreneurial spirit. "I am convinced entrepreneurship will be vital to our competitive advantage and crucial when it comes to winning with our clients and recruiting the best talent," she says. To foster the entrepreneurial spirit, Tischhauser advocates diversity of thought and equal partnership. "We are uniquely positioned to offer a dedicated and supportive network for female BCGers, and ensure commitment to their personal and professional growth. As a senior leader, I want to send a strong signal across the business community: BCG is a great place for female leaders. I have a deep personal interest in opening up leadership paths for women."

Before joining BCG, Tischhauser worked as a financial analyst in investment banking and as a research assistant. She was a graduate MBA scholar at the J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University in the US. She holds a master's degree in economics and a bachelor's degree in English linguistics from the University of Berne in Switzerland.
