The SDNA-7100 appliance family is ideal for high performance applications, providing all-inclusive network connectivity, security and storage based solutions. Typical applications include:

  • Next-generation firewalls
  • Next-generation service provider gateways
  • Intrusion prevention and intrusion detection
  • Network monitoring
  • VPN tunneling
  • Load balancing
  • Data leak prevention
  • Software Defined WAN
  • IOT gateways
  • Smart Wi-Fi access points
  • Remote network visibility and management
  • Industrial control
  • Military/Aero applications

Rhino Networking Appliances are based on the best-in-class, Cavium OCTEON® III 71xx processors, integrating from 2, 3 or 4 MIPS64 processor cores and providing unparalleled performance in the low power and low price categories. Other premium features include:

  • Integrated fourth-generation Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and security acceleration engines
  • Integrated acceleration for networking, QoS, RAID, and multicore scaling
  • Per core Floating Point Unit (FPU) and hardware virtualization

"Imagination's 64-bit MIPS architecture, which powers Cavium's OCTEON III multicore processors at the heart of Rhino Labs' new SDN appliances, is widely used across cloud, infrastructure, and enterprise equipment. MIPS is ideal for next-generation appliances and other networking applications where high throughput, scalability and security features are critical factors. We're delighted that Rhino Labs has chosen a MIPS-based processor for its new networking appliances, helping to ensure they can address increasingly stringent market requirements." - Jim Nicholas, Vice President, MIPS Business Operations, Imagination Technologies

The unit incorporates the Rhino Health Monitoring (RHM) utility, providing continuous monitoring of CPU cores, board peripherals, and host processor via heartbeats, voltage, and temperature checkpoints. Software support includes complete SDK, Debian Linux distribution, OpenWRT and third party software.

The family is provided with up to 4GB of DDR3, up to 8x1G interfaces, SSD, is Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LTE ready, and consists of the following members:

  • SDNA-7130 - 4 core CPU running at 1.6GHz
  • SDNA-7125 - 3 core CPU running at 1.6GHz
  • SDNA-7120 - 2 core CPU running at 1.6GHz

"These powerful and reliable platforms are general purpose appliances supporting a wide range of interfaces, running Linux OS that can accommodate a wide range of applications and use cases," said Guy Marom, Rhino Labs' CEO. "The SDNA-7100 family is positioned at a very attractive price point and small form factor with the RHM technology that guarantees reliability in any environment."

The SDNA-7130 is currently available in production and will be presented with Rhino's complete product line at the RSA 2016 Conference taking place in San Francisco from February 29 until March 3rd.
