Dragon Manjit Minhas Inspires PARTYSKIRTS to Collaborate with Young Designers

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - March 03, 2016) - Vancouver apparel brand PARTYSKIRTS, today announced the launch of its initiative to support new designers. This announcement is on the heels of last night's CBC Dragons' Den episode, whereby Lauren and Mariel Armstrong, co-creators of PARTYSKIRTS, made a deal with Manjit Minhas who is now a creative collaborator and PARTYSKIRTS brand ambassador.

"The Dragons' Den experience boosted our confidence as young entrepreneurs and it prompted my sister and I to ask ourselves how we could do the same for new designers in the space," said Lauren Armstrong, co-founder of PARTYSKIRTS. "From the Dragons' Den journey, we have earned a partnership with Manjit Minhas, a clear understanding of the finer details of our business and a focus on providing support for designers in the early stages of their careers."

Over the course of three years, Lauren and Mariel turned one silhouette into a fashion phenomenon. The sisters saw an opportunity to design an entire collection after their mother created a prototype and the response from their peer group was overwhelmingly positive. Since launching, the sisters have evolved the brand to offer a wider collection of patterns and styles. A successful deal with Manjit prompted the founders to launch a program whereby new designers and artists have the opportunity to submit a design they'd like to see printed on a skirt.

"Finding a creative way to work with new designers has been a goal of ours since the start but the timing hasn't felt right until now," said Mariel Armstrong, co-founder of PARTYSKIRTS. "We're choosing prints for Fall/Winter of next year so it's an ideal time to collaborate with someone new."

The opportunity will be open to Canadian artists and designers. Submissions should be sent to: press@skotapparel.com. Lauren and Mariel will announce their selection on May 6, 2016 and the winning print will be included in the Fall/Winter PARTYSKIRTS collection.

About PARTYSKIRTS

PARTYSKIRTS was founded in 2012 by sisters Lauren and Mariel Armstrong. At the time, they noticed a gap in the fashion market for a fun, flirty skirt silhouette. Created first by their mother, a seamstress, the sisters started off with the original "classic" skirt and have since added more designs that have become closet staples for women all over the world.
