Essroc Arena in Wellington, Ontario Scores With Lighting System Upgrade

Wellington Dukes' Win First Playoff Game After Lumeneering Innovations Improves Lighting Quality

WELLINGTON, ON--(Marketwired - March 14, 2016) - The Wellington Dukes junior hockey team won game one in its playoff series on its Essroc Arena home ice on Friday, March 4. The win came just hours after Lumeneering Innovations began a lighting system upgrade that dramatically improved the lighting quality while slashing Prince Edward County's energy and maintenance cost.

The installation showcases the impact of replacing metal halide lighting which was the industry standard when the arena was built just five years ago with LED technology. The LED lighting system designed and installed by Lumeneering Innovations features an infinitely dimmable system that is important to the presentation of figure skating performances, with brightness levels and natural color quality to meet the rigorous standards for high-definition Cogeco Cable television broadcasts of the Wellington Dukes hockey league games. The Essroc arena project includes the retrofitting of 72 ice pad metal halide high bay fixtures from 458-watt to 200-watt LEDs plus 500 LED lamps in dressing rooms and perimeter walking track. The upgrade earned a saveONenergy utility rebate of over $10,000 and the system includes an industry-leading five-year product warranty which means a maintenance-free system.

This is the second arena that Prince Edwards County has upgraded. The lighting in the older Picton arena was upgraded by Lumeneering Innovations last year. "The new lights are awesome and the upgrade decision was easy. The immediate benefits in quality and savings that we noticed in the Picton arena and the availability of saveONenergy utility rebates convinced our local government to proceed with the Wellington arena upgrade as well. Lumeneering's innovative and cost-efficient approach to retrofit the existing lighting fixtures made them the obvious choice to complete both projects," said Lisa Lindsey, Manager of Community Centres and Events Marketing for Prince Edwards County. Photos, videos and details about both projects are available online at http://lumeneeringinnovations.com/clients/government-municipal-property/.

The hockey team members and their fans loved the new lights, and the Cogeco Cable production crew remarked at the "beautiful natural light" that "easier to make ice appear white on the television cameras" unlike the old lighting technology. The playoff series broadcasts continue this week on www.tvcogeco.com/belleville/home.

Government-owned as well as privately owned building owners across Ontario are working with Lumeneering Innovations (LI) to take advantage of the saveONenergy program offered by the Ontario Power Authority and local utilities. Lighting system upgrades can dramatically cut energy bills every month, and many projects often qualify for utility-sponsored rebates to help offset the upfront expense. For a free lighting system analysis of your building, or to learn more, visit www.lumeneeringinnovations.com or contact Jazz Asselstine at jazz@lumeneeringinnovations.com or 888-509-9778 extension 117.
