Statman Harris & Eyrich, LLC ("SH&E") announces that a class action complaint has been filed against The Honest Company for allegedly falsely labeling some of its products

CINCINNATI, March 25, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Statman Harris & Eyrich, LLC ("SH&E") announces that a class action complaint has been filed against The Honest Company  (the “Company”) for allegedly falsely labeling some of its products.

The Complaint alleges that Company’s Honest Laundry Detergent, Honest Dish Soap, and Honest Multi-Surface Cleaner, are advertised as natural and free of harmful chemicals such as sodium lauryl sulfate (“SLS)”, a known skin irritant, and marketed as being a gentler alternative to harsh chemicals like SLS since they contained sodium coco sulfate (“SCS”), a coconut based cleanser

However the complaint asserts that these representations are “misleading in the extreme” because SCS is an irritating surfactant just as SLS is, and in fact, SLS is a major component of SCS. As a result, the complaint alleges that the Company “Honest is deceiving customers by representing that they can avoid SLS by using the SCS formulation in the SCS products, and is charging a premium for the ostensibly safer SCS products.”

The complaint was filed by another firm in the United States District Court for Central District of California - Case No. 2:16-CV-01835.
