The Charlwood Pacific Group Receives 2016 Canadian Franchise Association Hall of Fame Award

BC Franchisor Recognized With Prestigious National Award for Supporting Franchisee Success

VANCOUVER, BC--(Marketwired - April 19, 2016) - BC family owned and operated Charlwood Pacific Group (CPG), master franchise holder of the CENTURY 21 brand in Canada and Asia-Pacific regions, CENTUM Financial Group, Real Property Management in Canada, and UNIGLOBE Travel International, has been awarded the Canadian Franchise Association's (CFA) Hall of Fame Award for its innovative business practices that have driven franchisee success.

Founder, U. Gary Charlwood was presented with the award on behalf of the group on April 18, 2016 at the CFA National Convention in Ottawa during the Gala Awards Presentation.

"We treat our franchisees and their teams like family. That's why it's in our DNA to do everything we can to support the success of their businesses from providing the latest tools and technology, to personally answering their call when they need advice," said U. Gary Charlwood, founder, the Charlwood Pacific Group. "I'm incredibly honoured to receive this award on behalf of my sons Chris and Martin, all of our staff and members whose personal determination has led to our collective success."

The CFA Hall of Fame award is presented in recognition of outstanding performance by a franchise company over a significant period of time. Winners typically have high brand recognition (on either a regional or national scope) and will be generally recognized for their solid business performance. They exhibit leadership in the franchise community in many ways including helping to encourage excellence through sharing best practices, speaking engagements, being willing to mentor new franchisors, and raising the profile of the franchise business model. Past award recipients include Tim Hortons and Shoppers Drug Mart.

This national recognition adds to the founder's international franchising fame. Charlwood was the first non-U.S. citizen to be appointed Chairman of Board for the International Franchise Association (IFA) and was also the first Canadian to be inducted into the IFA Hall of Fame -- its highest honour. Past IFA Hall of Fame inductees include Ray Kroc, founder of McDonald's restaurants, Bill Marriott Jr. of Marriott Hotels, and Fred DeLuca of Subway Restaurants. The IFA also recognized Charlwood with their Entrepreneur of the Year award in 2009.

As owner and founder of Uniglobe Travel International -- a global family of travel management companies providing solutions for corporate and leisure clients -- Charlwood was inducted into the American Society of Travel Agents Hall of Fame in 2009 for making an enduring impact on the development of the travel industry. Past inductees have included Walt Disney and Conrad Hilton, founder of Hilton Hotels.

Today, the family-run CPG organization continues to grow under the leadership of the Charlwood family, with 1,857 franchised locations and over 24,000 support staff in 67 countries.
