Harsco’s GrateGuard™ High-Security Fencing Named Top New Product for Anti-Terrorism / Force Protection

CAMP HILL, Pa., April 20, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Global industrial company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that its GrateGuard™ high-security fencing system has been named the top new product for anti-terrorism and force protection by the Security Industry Association (SIA) at its recently-concluded International Security Conference & Exposition, also known as ISC West. The conference is the largest event in the United States for the physical security industry, with over 28,000 in attendance.

The award, presented as part of the SIA’s New Products Showcase, recognizes products that “reduce the vulnerabilities, risks, or consequences of threats associated with brute force attacks or other hostile actions against personnel, facilities, and critical information.”

“The protection of vital infrastructure – from power grids and water supplies to ports of entry, sensitive data centers, airports, and borders – is critical to homeland security,” said Bob Masten, product manager at the Harsco Industrial IKG division.  “With GrateGuard™, we’re responding directly and effectively to these increasing needs with a new solution unlike anything else on the market, one that provides the ultimate in deterrence, delay and denial to attempted security breaches.”

Introduced this year, Harsco’s GrateGuard™ security fencing draws on more than 100 years of Harsco Industrial IKG division leadership in the production of high strength industrial bar grating.  Like its durable grating cousin, GrateGuard™ is fabricated from heavy duty steel bar and rod stock that is fusion welded for superior strength and rigidity along the entire panel structure.  GrateGuard’s imposing presence and high strength-to-weight ratio deliver a substantial, first-line deterrence against potential intrusion. Full details and product specifications can be found at www.grateguardfence.com.

The award recognition at the ISC West conference follows a major, $10 million order recently announced by Harsco to supply more than 12 miles of high-security fence for the 11,400 acre Mexico City international airport, now starting construction.  Harsco’s GrateGuard™ fencing system will give the site critical security protection throughout most of its perimeter. The Mexico City airport award marks not only the first major order for Harsco’s growing fencing product line, but also one of the largest single orders ever received by the Harsco Industrial IKG division overall.

Part of the Company’s Harsco Industrial operating segment, the Harsco Industrial IKG division is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-strength steel and aluminum bar grating, serving power plants, refineries, shipyards and factories with versatile open-grid safety walkways, flooring and architectural structures.  The division operates production plants in North America and China and serves a broad array of applications throughout the world.

Harsco Corporation is a diversified industrial company providing a range of onsite services and engineered products to the global steel, energy and railway sectors.  Harsco’s common stock is a component of the S&P SmallCap 600 Index and the Russell 2000 Index.  Additional information can be found at www.harsco.com.
