Block Party Slides Into Edmonton

Slide the City Is Back and Bringing a Block Party

EDMONTON, AB--(Marketwired - May 4, 2016) - Victoria Park Road will be transformed into the biggest block party of the summer when Slide the City, presented by EPCOR, arrives on July 23. Last summer almost seven thousand participants slipped and splashed down the giant water slide. Event organizers expect 2016 to be bigger and better than ever.

"This unique event was a huge success last year, but for 2016 we are going to be adding some fun entertainment to give it more of a community feel," said John Malfatto, Slide the City co-owner. "You can experience your hometown like never before!"

Event organizers are excited to have EPCOR as the presenting sponsor for the second year in a row. 2016 promises to be the best event yet with a new location for speedier slides and beautiful views of the river valley. Sliders are invited to take a break from the heat and speed through three city blocks. The surrounding block party will include food, music, local vendors and street entertainers.

"The slide provides a fun outdoor summer family and community activity -- it's just another reason why Edmonton is a great place to live," said EPCOR Water Canada Senior Vice President John Elford. "Plus EPCOR is Edmonton's water provider, so working with Slide the City to bring a 1,000 foot slip-and-slide to the city just makes sense."

Sliding starts at 9 a.m. Online registration is now open at http://www.slidethecity.com/location/edmontonab/ Participants can purchase a single, triple ultimate or all day slider pass and are encouraged to sign up before May 20 to take advantage of the current rate. Pricing starts at $10.

All those over 5 years of age and 46 inches tall are welcome to slide! Visit the Slide the City Facebook page to see what fans have to say https://www.facebook.com/slidethecity
