TerraTherm Acquires Current Environmental Solutions (CES)

GARDNER, MA--(Marketwired - May 13, 2016) - TerraTherm, Inc., is pleased to announce that on May 6th, it acquired the internationally recognized In Situ Thermal Remediation (ISTR) technology provider, Current Environmental Solutions (CES). CES was founded in 1997 by the Battelle Memorial Institute (BMI) and Terra Vac as the first private company to commercialize Electrical Resistance Heating (ERH), a form of ISTR. BMI operates the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL) for the Department of Energy (DOE). All research and development information and associated patents were transferred from BMI to the staff at CES. CES remains the most experienced ERH vendor in the world and has maintained fundamental engineering principles and practices developed through extensive laboratory and field testing. This unique technical know-how has allowed CES to build an unprecedented and unparalleled track record of successes in the ERH field.

TerraTherm, Inc., a subsidiary of Cascade Environmental, is the worldwide leader in the development and implementation of in situ and on‐site thermal remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater. The acquisition of CES solidifies TerraTherm's market position as the only thermal vendor that can offer all mainstream ISTR technologies in-house.

"It's great to have CES on board and to work with the great minds that originally invented and commercialized the ERH technology. We at TerraTherm are uniquely qualified among thermal remediation contractors to evaluate each site's individual characteristics and offer our clients customized solutions, tailored to their exact needs, by offering the most cost effective technology or combinations of technologies for guaranteed success," says John Bierschenk, President and Co-founder of TerraTherm.

TerraTherm will take on CES' ongoing projects along with their entire technical team, including William Heath, the primary inventor and author of the ERH patents.
