Northern Ontario now has greater representation on CUPE Ontario's top board

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - May 30, 2016) - Northern Ontario now holds four positions on CUPE Ontario's top decision making body after delegates to their annual convention elected three others to join Vice-President Henri Giroux on their executive board.

Henri Giroux, who works in long-term care in North Bay, was re-elected to his fourth term on the Board.

Dawn Bellerose, a developmental service worker in Sault Ste. Marie, was newly-elected in the position of Aboriginal Representative.

Darryl Taylor, a paramedic in the Sudbury area, was elected in the newly created Northern Ontario Representative position.

Candace Reath, also of North Bay, was elected as a Trustee.

"Over my last eight years on the Board, I have worked tirelessly to ensure important decisions factor in the reality of living in Northern Ontario," Henri Giroux said after the new executive was sworn in on Saturday. "I'm thrilled that we've now quadrupled our representation."
