Major Electronic Music and Digital Arts Event in the Quartier des Spectacles

The Government of Canada supports the MUTEK festival


MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - June 1, 2016) - The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, today announced $35,000 in support for the 17th MUTEK festival, which is taking place from June 1 to 5, 2016, at different public venues in downtown Montréal.

Thanks to this funding, provided through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund, residents of Montréal will enjoy electronic music concerts and discover state-of-the-art audiovisual creations.

  • The 17th MUTEK festival will feature nearly 100 well-known and emerging musicians exploring different electronic trends.
  • For five days, MUTEK will occupy several indoor and outdoor locations in the Quartier des spectacles to present a number of electronic music concerts and audiovisual performances. The festival will also offer a variety of daytime activities at the Phi Centre, including workshops and meetings with artists.
  • Around 30,000 art and music lovers are expected to take part in the festivities, which include free concerts on the Parterre du Quartier des spectacles and a series of original performances at the Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal.
