OTTAWA, ON--(Marketwired - June 02, 2016) - Ottawa's economic development agency has begun its search for a new leader, who will help guide the city's journey in becoming the catalyst of Canada's innovation economy. The successful candidate will channel the passions of Ottawa's entrepreneurial community and share those success stories across the world.
The city's business ecosystem is in the midst of incredible growth with approximately 68,000 people working in over 1700 knowledge based businesses. This success is supported by sixty-five Federal research labs, four world-class post-secondary institutions, Canada's largest technology park, nearly a dozen business incubators/accelerators and a $30 Million Innovation Centre which will come open its doors this fall.
"Ottawa's economic base has strengthened significantly over the last four years and we are now looking to build sustained growth from this foundation," said David Ritonja, co-chair of Invest Ottawa's board of directors. "Collaboration is critical to this success and our new CEO will assume a key role in bringing our economic stakeholders together!"
The selection process will be a comprehensive, wide-ranging and, most importantly, a collaborative search. It will be conducted nationwide and with input from Ottawa's private sector to ensure the city's business ecosystem is well represented. Invest Ottawa's Board of Directors has chosen Boyden, a Canadian executive search firm, to lead the process.
