AIDS Services Foundation Orange County Announces Three New Service Offerings

ASF to Offer Nutrition, Meal and Prescription Drug Services to Those Affected by HIV/AIDS

IRVINE, CA and SANTA ANA, CA--(Marketwired - Jun 6, 2016) - AIDS Services Foundation Orange County (ASF) -- a nonprofit AIDS service organization that has helped more than 7,000 people living with HIV and AIDS in Orange County since 1985 -- is pleased to announce three new services that will enhance the programs it already offers, as well as further serve the community in valuable ways.

Nutrition Services: Eliminating the need for disability verification by a physician, ASF has brought on a registered dietician (RD) to conduct client intakes. Client intake will include coordination with primary health care providers and case managers to assess individual needs and eligibility for support programs. The RD will also conduct medical nutrition therapy, perform bi-annual assessment of food pantry items, and identify unmet needs to ensure the best outcomes for clients. This new nutrition service will allow ASF to serve additional individuals living with HIV/AIDS.

340B Pharmacy Program: ASF is now enrolled in the 340B Pharmacy Program, a federally funded program that enables health care organizations that care for underserved people to purchase outpatient drugs at discounted prices. The program allows ASF to receive rebates from participating drug providers that will be used to enhance and expand programs. The revenue received from this program will be distributed back to clients in the form of program enhancements.

Home-Delivered Meals: Partnering with Senior Serve, Age Well Senior Service and AIDS Team Ministries, to provide meal deliveries.

"We are pleased to offer these new services to the community," says ASF CEO and executive director, Philip Yaeger. "For the past 30 years ASF has existed to not only help prevent the spread of HIV, but also to improve the lives of men, women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Orange County. These new services and programs further our efforts to do just that."
