Fish & Richardson Named #1 Top Patent Litigation Firm for 13th Consecutive Year by Corporate Counsel Magazine

Fish Handled 321 Patent Cases; Almost Triple the Number of Its Nearest Competitor

BOSTON, MA--(Marketwired - Jun 7, 2016) -  Fish & Richardson announced today that it has been named the #1 patent litigation firm in the country for the 13th year in a row by Corporate Counsel magazine. The annual Corporate Counsel "Patent Litigation Survey" reported that Fish handled a total of 321 federal district court patent cases in 2015 -- almost triple the number of cases of its nearest competitor and exceeding its previous year's total by more than 50 percent.

Corporate Counsel noted, "Coming as no surprise, Fish & Richardson once again took the top spot...." and that "2015 saw a near-record number of patent cases filed in U.S. district courts." Corporate Counsel reported that an estimated 5,828 new patent lawsuits were filed in 2015, which was 15 percent more than were filed in 2014 and second only to the record number of cases filed in 2013.

"We are honored to be named the top patent litigation firm in the country for the 13th consecutive year," said Kurt Glitzenstein, Practice Group Leader for Fish's Litigation Group. "We take our role as the leading IP litigation firm very seriously. Our clients look to us to protect their most valuable IP assets, and to defend their most important cases. We take great pride in developing innovative legal strategies to advance our clients' business objectives and help them win in the district courts, on appeal, at the PTAB, and at the ITC."

Compared to other firms that may try a single patent case a year, Fish completed six patent trials in federal district courts, and four patent proceedings at the ITC in 2015. In addition to that intense trial schedule, Fish also appeared for oral arguments before the Federal Circuit 21 times, and the PTAB 37 times in 2015.

Fish's preeminent Patent Litigation practice includes nearly 250 lawyers in 12 offices worldwide. The firm has 88 PhDs and nearly 30 former Federal Circuit clerks on staff. Over 300 of Fish's attorneys have technical or science degrees. Litigation teams include patent practitioners and post-grant experts who have a deep understanding of clients' technologies and patent laws who work together with Fish's seasoned trial lawyers to help clients achieve their specific business objectives.

The "Patent Litigation Survey," which published in Corporate Counsel's June 2016 issue, ranks law firms according to how many federal district court patent suits they handled in 2015.

Fish & Richardson is a global patent, intellectual property (IP) litigation, and commercial litigation law firm with more than 400 attorneys and technology specialists across the U.S. and Europe. Fish has been named the #1 patent litigation firm in the U.S. for 13 consecutive years and is one of the busiest post-grant firms, representing more petitioners at the PTAB than any other firm. Fish has been winning cases worth billions in controversy - often by making new law -- for the most innovative clients and influential industry leaders since 1878. For more information, visit www.fr.com.
