Terrestrial Energy Appoints Former Goldman Sachs Risk Management Head, Robert Litterman, to Its Advisory Board

NEW YORK, NEW YORK--(Marketwired - June 8, 2016) - Terrestrial Energy, a vendor of next-generation nuclear power plants, has appointed Robert "Bob" Litterman to its Advisory Board. Dr. Litterman is prominent in the global institutional investment management community. He serves on the boards of a number of endowments and financial services companies.

Dr. Litterman's experience will assist the Company in broadening its financial sector engagement, and in making its economic case that Advanced Reactor technologies such as the IMSR offer the key to a clean energy revolution on an industrial scale. Dr Litterman's current interest is the financial loss to investment portfolios arising from a sudden market repricing of stranded fossil-fuel asset risk under the growing stresses from environmental policies. He has been widely published on this subject.

Dr. Litterman is a founding partner of Kepos Capital and the Chairman of its Risk Committee. Prior to founding Kepos Capital in 2010, he enjoyed a 23-year career at Goldman, Sachs & Co., where he served in research, risk management, investments and thought leadership roles. He was named a partner of Goldman Sachs in 1994 and became head of the firm-wide risk function. During his tenure at Goldman Sachs, Dr. Litterman researched and published a number of groundbreaking papers in asset allocation and risk management. He is the co-developer, with Fischer Black, of the Black-Litterman Global Asset Allocation Model, a key tool in investment management, and has co-authored books including "The Practice of Risk Management" and "Modern Investment Management: An Equilibrium Approach".

Dr. Litterman earned a PhD in Economics from the University of Minnesota and a BSc in Human Biology from Stanford University. He serves on a number of boards, including Commonfund, where he was elected Chair in 2014, Options Clearing Corporation, Resources for the Future, Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, the Sloan Foundation and the World Wildlife Fund.

About Terrestrial Energy

Terrestrial Energy is developing a next-generation nuclear reactor based on its Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) technology. The IMSR represents true innovation in safety, cost and functionality. It will offer safe and reliable power solutions for electricity production, both on- and off-grid, and also energy for industrial process heat generation. These together extend the applicability of nuclear energy far beyond its current footprint. With this profile, the IMSR is capable of driving the rapid global decarbonization of the primary energy system by displacing fossil fuel combustion across a broad front. It is complementary to renewable power sources and ideal for distributed power systems on existing grids. Using an innovative design and proven Molten Salt Reactor technology, the IMSR can be brought to global markets in the 2020s.
