30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rates Near Historic Lows; Current Rate is 3.39%, According to Zillow Mortgage Rate Ticker

SEATTLE, June 14, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The 30-year fixed mortgage rate on Zillow® Mortgages is currently 3.39 percent, down three basis points from this time last week. Mortgage rates dropped steadily throughout the week before settling at the current rate.

“Mortgage rates fell late last week and are now approaching all-time lows, due to defensive pricing in advance of two major risk events on the horizon: this week’s Federal Open Market Committee meeting and next week’s Brexit vote,” said Erin Lantz, vice president of mortgages at Zillow. “Expect market volatility around Wednesday’s Fed meeting, although it is hard to imagine rates falling much further below their current levels.”

Zillow’s real-time mortgage rates are based on thousands of custom mortgage quotes submitted daily to anonymous borrowers on the Zillow Mortgages site and reflect the most recent changes in the market. These are not marketing rates, or a weekly survey.

The rate for a 15-year fixed home loan is currently 2.62 percent, while the rate for a 5-1 adjustable-rate mortgage (ARM) is 2.67 percent.
