The Old Port of Montreal Get Dressed Up in Eastern Colours

The Government of Canada supports the 6th Orientalys Festival

MONTRÉAL, QUÉBEC--(Marketwired - July 5, 2016) - Department of Canadian Heritage

The Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Canadian Heritage, today confirmed $74,900 in funding for the 6th Orientalys Festival, which will take place at the Old Port of Montréal from August 11 to 14.

This funding, provided by the Government of Canada through the Local Festivals component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, will enrich the programming of this artistic event that features a wealth of cultural traditions from the countries of the East.

Quick Facts

  • The Orientalys Festival, which will showcase the talent of more than 200 local and international artists, will let audiences discover the cultures of the East, from North Africa to Asia.
  • This cultural event, where East and West meet, will welcome around 140,000 visitors, who will be kept entertained through music and dance shows, exotic food tasting, henna tattoo and calligraphy workshops, and other activities for people of all ages.
  • The organization is once again counting on the assistance of around 250 dedicated volunteers.
