DAV 5K Expands to Five Cities

COLD SPRING, KY--(Marketwired - July 05, 2016) - DAV (Disabled American Veterans) announced today that registration is open for its national race series, the DAV 5K, in five cities: Atlanta; Boston; Cincinnati; Newport News, Virginia; and Tulsa, Oklahoma. Registration for all events is now open at www.DAV5K.org. The DAV 5K is a run, walk, roll and motorcycle ride that thanks those who served and raises awareness of the issues our ill and injured veterans face every day.

The 2016 DAV 5K schedule and dates include:

• Cincinnati: Saturday, Nov. 5, Sawyer Point
• Atlanta: Saturday, Nov. 5, Piedmont Park
• Tulsa: Saturday, Nov. 5, Guthrie Green
• Boston: Saturday, Nov. 12, Castle Island
• Newport News: Sunday, Nov. 13, Oyster Point, City Center

"We are excited to expand the DAV 5K to five great American cities to honor Veterans Day this November," said DAV National Adjutant and CEO Marc Burgess. "It's very fitting that we are able to share the national race series with cities that share a remarkable history in supporting America's heroes."

All veterans, active-duty service members, reservists, National Guard and ROTC or service academy cadets are eligible for exclusive benefits on race day, including free registration. For $15, veterans will receive a custom branch-of-service race shirt (if registered by Oct. 16), veteran thank-you bag and invitation to the post-party. Veterans may also participate in the DAV 5K using a wheelchair or handcycle.

Early-bird registration rates for the general public run through midnight, Sept. 5, and include a race shirt, race bib and timing chip. Fees are $25 for adults and $15 for youth 6-17. The DAV 5K is open to individual runners, walkers and motorcycles as well as groups who wish to form a team.
