OTTAWA, ONTARIO--(Marketwired - July 11, 2016) - Department of Canadian Heritage

Canadian Heritage, in partnership with Library and Archives Canada, today unveiled the 2016 Plaza Bridge Photo Exhibit, A Greater Sisterhood: The Women's Rights Struggle in Canada. This exhibit commemorates the 100^th anniversary of women's suffrage in Canada.

This outdoor photo exhibit offers visitors a unique portrait of 24 women who overcame barriers to their full participation in this country's economic, political, and social life-and helped make Canada a more inclusive and democratic country.

• Nellie McClung, Fanny "Bobbie" Rosenfeld, Viola Desmond, Jeanne Sauvé and Roberta Bondar are some of the women profiled in the exhibit.
• The 2016 exhibit can be viewed on the Plaza Bridge in Confederation Square until mid-October.
• The Plaza Bridge Photo Exhibit program was initiated in 2005. Every year since then, during the summer months, important Canadian milestones and anniversaries are recognized and celebrated at this location through photographs.
