Media Invited to 2016 Alberta Summer Games July 14-17

LEDUC, ALBERTA--(Marketwired - July 12, 2016) - There are only 2 days left until the 2016 Alberta Summer Games opens in Leduc! From July 14th to the 17th, 2016 over 3,000 athletes, coaches and officials from across Alberta will be in Leduc to compete, learn and share experiences of a lifetime at the 2016 Alberta Summer Games.

Athletes ranging in age from 11 to 17 years old representing 14 different sports will compete from eight regional zones across Alberta. Over 2,000 volunteers and 150+ sponsors will pull together to meet a challenge and a common goal: to make the 2016 Alberta Summer Games in Leduc the "Best Ever" Alberta Games.

This is no regular Summer Games though! It is the most sustainable Games to date, diverting 80% of its waste, powering the Rec centre with 100% clean energy, having 0 disposable water bottles at the Games and more. Details: www.2016asg.com/sustainability/.

The Games is more than sports too! It is also an outdoor festival for the whole family featuring live music, outdoor painting, arts, food trucks and more.

Schedule of Events

July 14:
Torch Relay 10:30 am - 2 pm (media welcome on the tour bus)
Opening Ceremonies: 6:30 pm
July 15-17
Sports and Activities begin at 9 am daily
