The Government of Canada Supports the Growth of Quebec's Aerospace Sector

FARNBOROUGH, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwired - July 12, 2016) - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)

Businesses in the Canadian aerospace and defence sector will get their products to market faster and more efficiently with the Government of Canada's investment of $4.98 million in 11 Quebec aerospace companies. These investments will strengthen the skills, knowledge and business expertise that create highly skilled and good-paying jobs for Canadians working in the aerospace industry.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, made the announcement at the Farnborough International Airshow, which is being attended by a large delegation of Quebec aerospace companies.

The companies that received funding include: APN Inc., Alphacasting Inc., Elimetal Inc., Industries B. Rainville Inc., DICI Industries Inc., Lev-Fab, Luxia Innovation Ltd., M1 Composites Technology Inc., Mesotec Inc., Sonaca Montreal Inc. and Vestshell Inc.

The financial assistance, provided under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP), will be used by the companies to enhance their production capacity, or implement a commercialization strategy.

Over $39 million will be invested by the companies and their partners to carry out these projects.

The Government of Canada is providing financial assistance to 11 aerospace sector projects

The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, has announced that 11 Quebec aerospace companies will share a financial contribution totalling $4.98 million. The financial assistance, provided under CED's Quebec Economic Development Program (QEDP), will be used to enhance the companies' productivity and production capacity by enabling them to purchase equipment or implement a commercialization strategy.

APN Inc. http://www.apnca.com/en/		Repayable contribution of $500,000 out of a total investment of $1,800,000 APN Inc. operates a machining workshop for high-precision parts for the aeronautics, military equipment and high-technology industries. Exporting over 50% of its production, the company now employs some 70 people in Quebec and is part of the supply chain of major contract givers. CED's financial assistance will help support APN Inc.'s growth by improving its productivity and developing the Mexico and France markets.
Alphacasting Inc. https://www.alphacasting.com/en/		Repayable contribution of $450,000 out of a total investment of $1,500,000 Alphacasting Inc. specializes in precision casting at its Saint-Laurent factory. The company manufactures high-precision parts out of ferrous, non-ferrous and exotic alloy for the aerospace, medical, military, armaments and land transport industries. CED's financial assistance will help Alphacasting Inc. increase its productivity and production capacity by enabling it to purchase equipment.
Elimetal Inc. http://www.elimetal.com/index.php/en/		Repayable contribution of $280,000 out of a total investment of $1,371,000 Elimetal Inc. has been a major supplier for the aerospace industry for over 35 years. The company specializes in manufacturing critical metal components and assemblies for engines, fuel control systems and landing gear for airplanes. The company is a member of the "Aero Montreal" aerospace cluster and is active in the MACH initiative program. CED's financial assistance aims to increase Elimetal Inc.'s productivity and production capacity, particularly for the manufacture of large-scale and high-precision parts.
Industries B. Rainville Inc. http://industriesrainville.com/?lang=en		Repayable contribution of $235,000 out of a total investment of $500,000 Industries B. Rainville (IBR) is a machine shop that specializes in designing and manufacturing metal products, including specialized tools. IBR works primarily in the aeronautics, railway and energy sectors. As part of a value chain, over 90% of its products are custom-built equipment for contract givers. Its main clients are Pratt & Whitney Canada and Bombardier Aerospace. CED's financial assistance will help IBR improve its productivity and competitiveness by enabling it to purchase machining equipment.
DICI Industries Inc. http://www.dici-industries.com/home.html?Itemid=1		Repayable contribution of $290,000 out of a total investment of $1,204,000 DICI Industries Inc. (DICI) is a precision machining enterprise based in Saint-Laurent, with more than 22 machining centres. It manufactures and assembles complex quality parts for the aerospace and aeronautics, telecommunication, defense and medical industries. 40% of its sales come from the aerospace and aeronautics sector. CED's financial assistance will enable DICI Industries Inc. to increase its productivity and production capacity by purchasing and installing new equipment, including a five-axis machining centre and a digitally controlled turn-mill centre and specialized tools.
Lev-Fab http://lev-fab.com/en/aviation-division/		Repayable contribution of $400,000 out of a total investment of $2,800,000 Lev-Fab specializes in the machining of piping and other metal parts for the aerospace and transport materials sectors. Lev-Fab is part of the aerospace value chain, with such clients as L3 MAS, Bombardier Aerospace, Mecachrome, Honeywell, General Electric (GE), and the transport materials value chain, with clients including Volvo International, Lion Bus (electric buses), Bombardier Transportation and Doppelmayr (cable cars). Most of the company's sales are within Canada and the US and most of the components it manufactures are found in exported products. CED's financial assistance will enable Lev-Fab to improve its productivity and increase its production capacity by purchasing production equipment and expanding its factory.
Luxia Innovation Ltd. http://www.luxia.ca/		Repayable contribution of $100,000 out of a total investment of $485,000 Luxia Innovation Ltd. specializes in providing carpeting and other floor coverings for business aircraft and regional jets. It provides leading-edge services in cutting, finishing and customizing carpets and aims to meet the high expectations of a niche clientele. CED's financial assistance will enable Luxia Innovation Ltd. to increase its productivity and production capacity by purchasing equipment and implementing enterprise resource planning software.
M1 Composites Technology Inc. http://www.m1composites.com/		Repayable contribution of $250,000 out of a total investment of $1,560,500 M1 Composites Technology Inc. provides a full range of specialized services for the aerospace industry, including engineering, manufacturing and repairs of composite and metal components such as nacelles, flight control surfaces, radomes, internal components and other vital structures. M1 Composites is ISO9001 & AS9100 certified and accredited by Canada's Controlled Goods Program (CGP). With its proven capabilities, M1 is approved as an Approved Maintenance Organization (AMO 23-12) by Transport Canada and as a Design Approval Organization (DAO 14-Q-01). CED's financial assistance will enable M1 Composites Technology Inc. to increase its productivity and continue its expansion by purchasing equipment for manufacturing and restoring composite parts used, among other things, in aircraft nacelles.
Mesotec Inc. http://mesotec.ca/en/		Repayable contribution of $1,000,000 out of a total investment of $12,395,000 Mesotec Inc. is a provider of complex machining of components and tools for the aeronautics and high-technology sectors (transportation, electronics and industrial). Its main activity sector is the aerospace industry for components of structures and aircraft motors made from various alloys (aluminum, magnesium, titanium, inconel). CED's financial assistance will enhance Mesotec Inc.'s performance by increasing its production capacity and, in the medium term, improving its production. The project also includes constructing a building (including the purchase of land) for relocating activities to a larger space, moving and calibrating current equipment and purchasing new specialized equipment.
Sonaca Montreal Inc. http://www.sonaca.com/content/canada/strategy		Repayable contribution of $1,200,000 out of a total investment of $14,660,000 A subsidiary of the Belgian group Sonaca, Sonaca Montreal is a world leader in the manufacture and assembly of airplane wing panels and empennage skins for business and commercial aircraft. CED's financial assistance will enable Sonaca Montreal Inc. to increase its productivity and production capacity. The project consists of acquiring production equipment, including a "High speed Gantry" type machining centre and a machine for manufacturing stringers, and updating the manufacturing management system.
Vestshell Inc. http://www.vestshell.com/home.html		Repayable contribution of $275,000 out of a total investment of $944,000 Vestshell Inc. manufactures ferrous investment casings. The precision parts are manufactured according to the client's specifications for advanced technological applications (aerospace, medical, transportation and industrial sectors). Vestshell's services include rapid prototypes, heat treating, non-destructive testing for testing materials without degrading them, and surface finishing. CED's financial assistance will enable Vestshell Inc. to increase its productivity and implement a strategy to increase the marketing of steel parts in the United States and Europe. More specifically, the assistance will help the company purchase and install production equipment and perform marketing activities.
