Celebrating 50 Years of the Sawdust Art & Craft Festival and Laguna Art-A-Fair With an Artist-Made Clock Collaboration

LAGUNA BEACH, CA--(Marketwired - Jul 12, 2016) - In celebration of 50 years of the Sawdust Art & Craft Festival and Laguna Art-A-Fair, and in the spirit of collaboration, the Passport to the Arts team, which also includes the Festival of Arts and Visit Laguna Beach, has put on a citywide art installation. As a way to bring awareness to the local art festivals and encourage an adventurous sense of tourism in Laguna Beach, the Passport to the Arts team arranged for 50 individual artist-made clocks to be displayed in Laguna Beach restaurants, hotels, resorts, and of course, the festivals themselves. The campaign, aptly named Art Is Timeless -- features pieces from 20 Sawdust Art & Craft Festival artists, 16 Laguna Art-A-Fair artists and 14 Festival of the Arts artists -- provides an opportunity for the artists to gain notability in both the art and public spheres.

A walking map is available online and around town indicating the locations of each clock so that locals and tourists can explore the city in search of their favorite artists' creations. The clocks provide an opportunity for public engagement with the arts while also benefitting all establishments involved, turning every venue that hosts a clock at its location into a landmark in its own right. The clocks are currently displayed until August 21, at which point they will be auctioned off to raise money for each festivals' educational programs. Although the clocks must eventually be taken down, the memories, photo opportunities, social media posts and other benefits that will come of it will linger with all involved as fond reminders of what makes Laguna Beach so great. Art truly is timeless!
