VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA--(Marketwired - July 15, 2016) - The War Resisters Support Campaign will be holding a media conference with Jenny Kwan, MP (Vancouver East), the federal New Democratic Party (NDP) immigration critic, in Vancouver on Saturday, July 16, 10:00 a.m. PDT at First United Church (320 East Hastings St.).

Ms. Kwan will join Iraq War veteran and resister Rodney Watson along with Alyssa Manning, the lawyer representing Rodney and the other American Iraq War resisters who are still seeking permanent resident status in Canada. Dr. Michael Klein, CM, Vietnam War resister and recently-appointed Member of the Order of Canada, is also expected to attend.

Rodney has been living in sanctuary for nearly 6 years and 10 months - 2,494 days as of Saturday. He served a combat tour in Iraq. In 2007, he sought refuge in Canada after determining that he could no longer participate in that internationally condemned conflict in good conscience.
