uBreakiFix, Leading Tech Repair Brand, Opens in Athens

Former Dawgs John Theus and Marshall Morgan Join Grand Opening Celebration July 22

ATHENS, GA --(Marketwired - July 19, 2016) - uBreakiFix Athens is celebrating its Grand Opening Friday, July 22, through Sunday, July 24, with a special event Friday, July 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Festivities include a ribbon cutting ceremony performed by the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce, as well as a meet and greet with former Dawgs and current NFL players John Theus of the San Francisco 49ers and Marshall Morgan of the Buffalo Bills.

The growing technology repair company specializes in same-day repair service for all brands of smartphones, tablets, computers and game consoles. Its highly trained technicians are skilled in repairing cracked screens, water damage, software issues, camera issues and most other technical problems at its more than 215 stores across North America. Each repair comes with a 90-day warranty.

The Athens location is owned by Andy Thoms, co-founder of See.Spark.Go, and Candice Smith, a San Francisco-based entrepreneur. The team also owns uBreakiFix Atlanta and has plans to open more stores in the near future. Thomas Mazeika, manager of uBreakiFix Athens, grew up in Athens and is a graduate of Prince Avenue Christian School.

"We are all about serving the communities we are invested in, and we have owned multiple businesses with a similar vision," Andy Thoms, native Athenian and current resident, said. "We believe uBreakiFix adds value to Athens in a practical way that benefits families, students and anyone who relies on technology to connect them to their jobs, schoolwork or families."

Friday's grand opening event will also feature refreshments, giveaways for those in attendance, and tempered glass screen protectors (a value of $29.99), while supplies last, as a gift with device repair purchase during Grand Opening Weekend. Autographed t-shirts will be available for purchase with a portion of proceeds going to benefit Extra Special People, a local nonprofit.

The team is excited to bring uBreakiFix to the Athens community because of the brand's strong focus on customer service and plans to partner with local schools and businesses to provide a reliable technology repair option.

The increasing cost of devices has made technology replacement difficult and expensive, which motivated savvy millennial duo, Justin Wetherill and David Reiff, to provide another option. uBreakiFix was founded in 2009 and the pair later partnered with Eddie Trujillo to offer a brick and mortar tech repair option that was quick, affordable and most importantly, provided a quality customer experience.

"We want to build trust with our customers by taking the traumatic experience of damaged devices and making the repair process simple," said uBreakiFix founder, Justin Wetherill. "As we expand into Athens, we want the community to know there are options beyond replacement, and uBreakiFix is here to provide them with a trusted alternative."

The Athens store officially opened on July 12 at 1880 Epps Bridge Parkway, next to Barberitos. This is the brand's eighth location in Georgia and its first location in Athens. uBreakiFix opened 52 stores during the first two quarters of 2016 and expects to have 275 stores across North America by the end of the year.
