Sunset Cosmetic Surgery Adds a New Cellulite Treatment for Los Angeles in July

Having Added the Popular Cellfina(R) to Their Los Angeles-Area Practice on July 5, Dr. Steve Svehlak and Dr. Dan Yamini Aim to Provide More Options for Patients

LOS ANGELES, CA--(Marketwired - August 10, 2016) - Most women develop dimpled skin on the thighs or elsewhere at some point in their lives. In fact, an estimated 80 to 90 percent of all women will find themselves dealing with cellulite. Treatment in Los Angeles takes many forms, but one in particular, Cellfina®, is gaining popularity for its minimally invasive nature and its long-lasting results. That is why Dr. Steve Svehlak and Dr. Dan Yamini added it to their menu of services at Sunset Cosmetic Surgery in early July.

Cellulite forms when fat cells grow in size and number, pushing the skin above outward, except where connective bands between the outermost layer of skin and the underlying muscles prevent expansion. Each band creates a small pucker with fat bulging around it, since it tethers the skin in place. Effective cellulite treatment involves severing these bands, known as septae. Historically, such methods involved surgical techniques that involved scalpels. Cellfina® updated the effective but invasive cellulite treatment by replacing the scalpel with a small needle.

This needle severs the septae, releasing the dimple-causing tension and allowing the surface of the skin to sit smoothly over the fat below. No larger blade means no general anesthesia is required, and the treatment can be carried out in a simple office setting as opposed to an operating room.

While cellulite is commonly associated with being overweight, any adult of any weight can develop the dimples. Even men are not immune, with as many as 10 percent of all male adults eventually finding unwanted puckering on their skin.

The cellulite treatment takes only about an hour to perform, and it can generate results as soon as three days. The effects can continue to improve over time, with a study revealing increasingly positive reports from Cellfina® patients at three-month, one-year, and two-year marks.

Since Cellfina® is minimally invasive, downtime is limited. The most commonly reported side effects are soreness and tenderness in the treated area, though these resolve in just a few days. There may be some initial bruising, too, though this typically fades throughout the month after a treatment session.

As an FDA-approved cellulite treatment, Cellfina® was subjected to efficacy and safety studies that revealed results lasting for at least two years, which is the longest agency-cleared duration of any cellulite treatment available.
