Sturgis Bancorp, Inc. New Director Appointment

STURGIS, MI--(Marketwired - Aug 17, 2016) - Sturgis Bancorp, Inc. (OTCQX: STBI) today announced the appointment of Kimberlee Bontrager to the Board of Directors for its subsidiary Sturgis Bank & Trust Company.

Kim Bontrager, is President/Owner of Locey CPA, LLC, Sturgis, MI, a public accounting firm serving clients with accounting, audit and tax related matters. Bontrager previously was employed at Lincoln Memorial University, Harrogate, TN, where she served as VP of Finance in charge of accounting, financial, banking, IT, and construction operations for the University.

"Kim has extensive experience in many areas that complement our existing board skill sets. She is a Certified Public Accountant, has worked in Security matters related to Sarbanes-Oxley and with companies conducting Initial Public Offerings (IPOs), and she has experience in strategic and operational planning. She has extensive experience in analyzing financial performance, including forecasting. Kim has served as a Vice President for Finance, Controller, Accountant, and as a Financial Analyst for several well-known companies and organizations. Bontrager, a Certified Public Accountant, earned her Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science, Business Administration/Accounting from the University of Central Florida, Orlando, FL. She additionally received a Bachelor of Science, Communications from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, MI.

Bontrager and her husband reside in Sturgis. She is an active member of the Sturgis Kiwanis Club and serves on the board and finance committees of the Sturgis Chamber of Commerce and the Domestic and Sexual Abuse Services organization.

Bontrager's appointment expands the Board to seven members.
